Michael K. Halstead has served more than 18 years with the United States military. He has enjoyed a successful career with management and leadership experience and a reputation for meeting and exceeding expectations when confronted with the most challenging organizational goals and objectives.

Professional Military Experience

A majority of Mr. Halstead's career with the military has focused on all facets of communications architecture which encompasses: single channel radio, satellite, line-of site, multiplexing, Wide Area Networks and Local Area Networks. He has directly contributed to the success of several military communication and cyber-security exercises. He has supported military efforts to develop and conduct cyber security exercises across the country and was chosen to assist in the design of the largest Combined Joint Chiefs of Staff, NATO and Partnership for Peace Nations communications exercise in the world. Although, his primary responsibility with the military is cyber security and information assurance, he also provided assistance as the Battalion Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) Chief, where his duties included development of the AT/FP plan, emergency action procedures and conducting physical site security assessments.

Combat Experience

When deployed to Afghanistan Mr. Halstead planned and implemented the communications architecture needed by the military as a precursor to the re-establishment of combat presence. This required coordination with already present US and international forces, assisting more than 3,200 Marines and allowed for effective communications to increase battle effectiveness. He has supervised the operation and maintenance of tactical data networks while developing organizational improvements to facilitate the ability to respond to network outages in a timely manner. He has also coordinated the establishment of a satellite communications link at a Combat Operations Center (COC) to provide live streaming video coverage to military leadership. In addition, he has coordinated, planned and supervised execution of local network security and data reliability to provide users with a secure working environment while limiting network outages.

Education

Mr. Halstead is a trained instructor and curriculum developer for the military and has assisted in the redesign of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) Manual. His participation lead to the implementation of a new curriculum development course now taught at the Instructional Management School.

Mr. Halstead is Security + certified and is completing the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification course along with his Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Management and Homeland Security.
